In a few days it will be time for the Vegvisir Race 2021! Real adventure sailing. This year with start at Nyborg, in Denmark, it comes with three courses: long 225NM, medium 156NM and short 75NM. The long course is allowed only for doublehanded crews, while medium and short are available for both single and doublehandlers.
Vegvisir Race was one of the highlights on our sailing calender next year, including a transport sailing back and forth around 220NM per leg. Unfortunately, the local community decided, just a few weeks from the start, to cancel it because of risk of spreading Covid 19.
This year we had no possibility to attend. Vegvisir stays on my to-do list.
I will monitor closely however as there are several boats that we are familiar with. Amongst others, Peter Gustafsson, with his new First 18 Seascape Edition racing the short course doublehanded and Niclas Holmberg with Vida, his Elan 350, racing the long course doublehanded.
I will keep a special eye on Niclas, as I will participate at the Baltic 500 in a month aboard Vida…more to come.
