Silverrudder 2020 – One week to go

Silverrudder 2020

In spite of Covid-19 pandemic, Silverrudder 2020 is happening. It starts less than a week from now and it is bigger than ever. A stunning 429 yachts have registered from 12 countries.

In fact, it is the the largest non-stop singlehanded off-shore race in the world.

The Challenge

Silverrudder™ – Challenge of the Sea – is an annual singlehanded boat race, which takes place at autumn equinox this year the start goes Friday the 18th September 2020 in Svendborg on the island of Funen (Fyn).

Denmark. Silverrudder Challenge has 7 boat categories, and there will be announced winner in each of them. That is, if the competitors are able to beat last years winners in speed. As the number of contestants increase, the competition is also getting tougher. But the challenge is still the same: 134 Nautic Miles around Funen – only you and your boat!

Silverruder - the course

Silverrudder 2020 was not one of our planned races and we will not be able to turn up at the start line. With afterthought and looking at the awesome mix of participating yachts however, I cannot but feel a tinge of envy and look forward to finding out who will snatch the trophy!

I love the “Race Guide” provided to all fellow sailors with overview maps, a number of checklists, tide analysis, tactical suggestions and a drill down to detailed maps of the course.

Good luck!
